Environmental Permitting Review

Defra recently launched a consultation on Environmental Permitting looking at current waste management exemptions - responses were due on the 23rd of October 2008. There are many proposed changes to current exemptions and waste management licensing, including having two types of environmental permits (standard and bespoke) and operator technical competence being demonstrated at a company and individual level. Importantly some of the thresholds may change for construction waste exemptions meaning that standard permits may be required in the future.
