There are a number of awards available for sustainable buildings and resource efficiency in construction.  The Environmental Data Interactive Exchange (Edie) website provides a comprehensive listing of these awards, examples of which are listed below. Master Builder of the Year Awards

The awards are open to all building companies with categories including waste minimisation, renovation and new homes. A full list of categories can be found at http://www.fmb.org.uk/events/mboy2008/index.asp. Entries for the 2008 awards are now closed.

Green Apple Awards

An annual event set up to encourage and promote environmentally sustainable practice. The awards cover both environmental best practice, and contributions to the built environment and architectural heritage. More information can be found at http://www.greenappleawards.com/

Vision In Business for the Environment, Scotland (VIBES) Awards

VIBES awards are open to all businesses that operate in Scotland. They recognise an organisation's commitment to reduce their environmental impact. There are various awards, the main aims of which are to reward small, medium and large organisations who can display efficient use of resources, increased competitiveness, improved environmental performance, or exceptional support of sustainable development. RICS Awards

  • Community Benefit Award - To recognise outstanding achievement in the built and natural environment. This award looks for outstanding achievements in providing community facilities. Projects may be single buildings or multiple units and may stand in urban, rural and coastal areas. In this category judges have sought to identify evidence of positive local community feedback, improvements to local landscape/streetscape and high levels of public access to the scheme.
  • Sustainability Award - To recognise outstanding achievement in the built and natural environment. Rewards innovation in the efficient use of energy and materials to provide a sustainable environment. The design, construction and management of the building must also illustrate this kind of forward thinking and energy saving techniques which ensure a sustainable environment.
  • Building Conservation Award - To recognise outstanding achievement in the built and natural environment. Honours outstanding work in the conservation of a single building or structure, or a group of buildings or structures, and covers refurbishment or conversion to a new use.

British Urban Regeneration Associations (BURA) Awards for Best Practise in Regeneration

Rewards Best Practice in the area of Urban Regeneration by identifying projects that reflect both imagination and innovation. Consideration is also given to long-term benefits of the project and their contribution to the local community and sustainable practice. The Queens Awards for Enterprise- Sustainable Development

Regarded as the UK's most prestigious business performance awards. The sustainable development awards are presented to businesses that can demonstrate an outstanding understanding and contribution to a sustainable society. Water Efficiency Awards 2009

The Environment Agency Water Efficiency Awards recognise organisations that cut down on the water they use, helping to conserve our country's precious water resources. Sustainable City Awards 2009

  • Sustainable Building- In association with the Building Research Consultancy (BRE) and the Company of Chartered Surveyors, this award aims to recognise continuous improvement in the area of sustainable building design. Any UK company is eligible to apply.
  • Resource Conservation- In association with The Society for the Environment, The Company of Water Conservators and The Company of Launderers; this award aims to recognise continuous improvement in a company's resource efficiency and conservation. Any UK company is eligible to apply.

European Business Awards for the Environment
